As we come so far now let's talk about the outliner. Because now we had enough objects in our seen and we done also lot of translation already this is time we should learn about outliner. In my we create lot of objects so it's good to keep our work organized. This is always good to have a global access to the abject you do have a new scene. The task is done in Maya by using the outliner. This two places to get outliner. One is in window menu. Window > Outliner When you click on that you may have floating window appears front of you. there is an other way to get the outliner also that is form icon of the outliner right under the move tools. When we take on the icon the outliner open attached with the screen like the channel box. Both ways are fine you can use any of the one you like. Now let's start outliner to get organized. Open the outliner we may see it like this. Outliner holds the all of the objects you are using in Maya. On the top we do have 4 cameras. These are the cameras we use to view four ports view. The polysuface15 is the base cube the name has changed because we did lot of trisection with it when ever we may change in our object. Maya itself gives the object name and keeps it in the history. As we deleted the history after using the booleans the last name Maya used for the base cube is this wand when we click on this the base cube set selected. This is also different to select the object if you are not able to select them by using select or lasso tool. Open the outliner and click on the name of that objet the objet get selected. I think now you get the point that why it is important to name every object. Because it becomes complicated to search the object in the outliner because the names will be polycube1, polycube2 and so on. First things first click on the + Marks and open them you will see the other objects are inside. You see that + sign disappeared and leaf1, leaf2 and leaf 3 left behind. (When you group the objects the Maya names the group, group1 the name has changed to polysurface12 because did lot of stuff moving and rotating. We deleted history also that why the name has changed) When you click on leaf1 the leaf1 get selected. We can pick and drags the objects out form also all you have to do is use with middle button of your mouse. Pick the object you don’t want in the group just pick the object hold MMB (middle mouse button) and drag it out side very simple. As here I picked the leaf4 and dragged out with the remaining leafs. You can also rename any of the objects by bubble clicking on the name of the object. We can also delete the object form the out liner also. Now let’s change the out line and alien the outliner like bellow,
You can also search the object in by typing the name of the object the search bar of the out liner, which is also a helpful way to fast he work flow. So this was the outliner. The next topic we are going start is inserting edges and cutting faces. |
