Modeling Beautiful Poly Hut in Maya 2010 Part2

In this video tutorial we will finialize our beautiful hut model
Modeling a beautiful hut in maya using poly tools


This is part 2 of modeling beautiful Hut with Poly in Maya 2010
poly architectural modeling
  1. Create a new poly cube
  2. Change its pivot point to its front end
  3. Scale it on X axis 24 points
  4. Scale it on Z and Y axes 0.25 grid points
  5. Move it up in the roof

  7. Go to the edit menu and duplicate special the modified cube with following specifications,
    • Number of copies = 4
    • Translate on Z = -2
  8. Place all copies on one side right under roof, adjust them properly using Y translate in side orthographic view
  9. Make a group of all 5 cubes and duplicate them on opposite side of the roof as shown in image below,

  11. Duplicate the middle bar (cube) and rotate it on Z axis 90 degree
  12. Move it inside the shed under the roof for making a pillar for the roof as shown in image below,

  14. Duplicate the pillar bar make a little shorten it then place it on under the right most bar of the roof as shown in image below,

  16. For making a front door, you need to hide both of the pillars for now, hide them by pressing control H on keyboard while they are selected.
  17. Go to edit mesh menu and select Insert Edge Loop Tool
  18. Use Insert Edge Loop Tool for inserting the edge loops into the main first cube for doors and windows, insert first two loops horizontally, follow the image below,

  20. Go to the orthographic views and straight the edges by translating them on Y axis down, from front side like the image below,

  22. Go to the edit mesh menu chose the split polygon tool
  23. In orthographic view click on the upper edge loop near the right corner of the big hut’s cube which you have created recently
  24. Again click at the bottom edge loop
  25. Use middle mouse button for adjusting the place for second click, press middle mouse button and hold it unless you adjust the second vertex on the bottom edge
  26. Press enter for finalizing the new edge
  27. Create more edges using split polygon tool for cutting out the shapes of door and windows, , see the image below,

  29. Again get the Insert Edge Loop Tool which you got first for creating two loops one for upper and one for bottom. This time create a loop right in the middle viz between the upper loop of door and the bottom loop of door, see the image below,

  31. Press 4 for wireframe mode In orthographic view and again use the split polygon tool right in the middle of the hut’s side wall, use the middle grind line as the reference, see the image below,

  33. Go to the edit mesh menu and chose offset Edge Loop Tool
  34. Offset the middle edge twice and make the distance accurate using the channel box as you have used channel box for offsetting the edge loops before in this tutorial, (see the image)

  36. Go to the perspective view
  37. Turn on the Wireframe on Shaded mode from shading menu of the perspective camera

  39. Select both faces of the door
  40. Extrude them and make a shape like a door
  41. Likewise make windows (if you can’t do so please watch the video tutorial on making a poly window from our website)
  42. When you are done with doors and windows show the hidden pillars
  43. Go to the display menu > show > All

  45. Go to the create menu and create a polygon plane for the ground
  46. Scale the plane 100 grid units on X and Z axis
  47. For terrace first create  a poly cube
  48. Resize it as following or as suits you,
    • Scale X = 3.6
    • Scale Y = 0.2
    • Scale Z = 8
  49. Change pivot point of the cube to right front corner
  50. Move the cube at the place of terrace as shown in image below,

  52. Duplicate the same cube for the rest of the objects of terrace like palisade, base and wooden supports, (see the image below)

  54. When you are done with modeling use bevel tool from edit mesh menu for all hard and sharp edges for making them soft like real.
  55. At the end start texturing it. For texturing the hut search the tutorial “hut texturing” using the search box of our website.
