Component Level of Objects in MayaComponent level means the sub-object level of an object. Maya’s objects are meshes made up by Polygons, NURBS or subdivision surfaces. Their sub-object level refers to their components. For example a poly mesh has a lot of vertices, edges and faces. Vertices, edges and faces are components of that poly object. Likewise control vertices (CVs), edit points, patches, hulls are components of a NURBS surface. We modify objects/meshes by modifying their components. Maya provides a variety of tools for controlling the components of objects/meshes. There is difference between object level and component level in maya terms, when we select an object by clicking on it, green highlighted lines appear on it. It mean that object is in selection mode and it is object mode, but when we right click on it, a marking menu appears which offers us to select components of that object.
