MARKING MENUWe talked about interface, navigating view ports and hotbox. There is a small menu left which is marking menu. As we talked before that we have a lot of menus right under the tip of the mouse. The marking menu is one of them. There is no need to press any keyboard key. Marking menu shows up by pressing on the right mouse button on the object. This will give you a menu of Pacific to that object. Marking menu is different for every object you create even that will be a Polygon or Nurbs and all the others. Let's start. Create a polygonal cube and Nurbs also so we are familiar with the both option we mostly use in Maya. Let's start with polygonal cube first. Bring the mouse on the cube and press the right mouse button and hold. Menu pops up in this is the menu called marking menu. As you are now watching the polygonal marking menu. You may see on top Edges, on left Vortex and Vertex face, on right Object mode, UV, Multi and downward you see face button and the a menu box with the lot of options also. These are the making menus for the polygonal object uses for reshape your model of your desire. (When you are in marking menu holding the right button of mouse and bring the mouse arrow on the command, the command highlight blue and left mouse button, this is how you use in the marking menu with right button of your mouse) Right click on the polygonal cube select the Edges. Now you can edit the edges of the cube and you can reshape edges of the cube. As now you are in edges mode so you can select only the edges right now. For select the object again and return to the object mode. Right click again and select the object mode. Now you are able to select the object. Right click and next select the face. You can reshape the faces of the cube. Remaining options works the same with the edges or Vortex and so on. On the right side in marking menu we have multi. What this does when you have to select the faces, edges and Vertex at the same times for do some action to the model you are working at the Multi is very useful option in the marking menu. Now let's check the Nurbs cube. When you right click on Nurbs cube object you will see the marking menu options are different. Now upwards we have an isoparm, on left control Vertex and surface path, on right object mode, Hull and surface UV and downwards surface point and the menu box which we had in the polygonal based object. Let’s go further and know the menu box which is downwards in marking menu how that work. First option is the name of the object you clicked on. If you click on the name as right now I have name polycube the attribute editor will shows up. The Next is select. When you pick up select it select the object as like the object mode. Down there you have a paint option. You can texture your object right from here which is kind of faster way to give the texture to our object. The option call action is very handy one. Go ahead and select action in that you have four more options template, untemplate, unparent and bounding box. These are the selection related.
When you select the template the command convert your object to a template you can see it but cannot select it. This is kind of helpful when you have a lot of objects in your seen and you don’t want to select some of them. Go ahead and template them. You can bring them back by untemplate command from action. The next is unparent which unparent the objects if you use parent command of Edit menu. So you don't have to go in at edit and then unparent it is just here in the action option of marking menu. The forth is bounding box which convert the object to a box. This is Like we have something there but we cannot see but a border line only. It works just the same as template does. Right down side we do have an option assigning new material which holds the same options we do have in hypershading menu. In short the marking menu is a faster way to reshape the model and with that of faster access to lot of actions also. As now we are almost familiars to the tool to start creating our Lamp. |
