MANIPULATING

Let’s take a look on the manipulating now. Manipulating is selecting the object, move the object, rotate the object and scale the object for that we will use the right side tools,

We have a faster way in by using the hot keys which are Q, W, E, and R. Just putting the four fingers on the keyboard we have very fast access to these most important actions we do work with in Maya a lot. As we talking about Select tool so the hot key Q is for the select tool.

We do have Select menu tool also in Edit menu too. But I don’t think so that any one uses it because it right under of our finger and in left side of the manipulation icons.
So we have icon, Edit > Select Tool and the Hot key Q for select tool. You can use any of them in any way you like. I like to use Q hot key because it’s faster. We do have shift select tool so if you want to shift select you can individually pick the object you want. In addition we also have a lasso tool and paint selection tool we use them when we model our lamp.

MOVE

The next is move tools. This is the icon We also have move tool in modify also. Modify>Transformation tools> move tools

When we select the move tool and click the object we made before. You will see that there is gizmo appears with three different colors red green and blue I used to say it RGB. Same as you see down there.

You will notice that the colors represents the same mark so Red is the X axis, Green is Y and Blue is the Z axis.

When you pick any of the Arrows of the gizmo it turns in yellow color so now you can move the object into the direction you just selected. You can move your object in any direction you want.

If you pick the center of the gizmo you are able to of the object in our directions X, Y and Z at the same time.
