There are the several commands we mostly use to give a good looking shape to our model. Some are in Mash and few are in Edit Mash menu. The command I like talk about first is bevel from edit mash. The tool I want to talk about is Bevel. What the bevel does it pretty much describe bevel edges in other words it lethal them away. Tool can bevel the face and edge even vertex also. What this does its cuts the corners in a half. For example select some face and if the faces 90 degrees Bevel cut it in 45.

Let's start in work with the bevel.

The base cube we had started fast time was to understand how we can reshape the cube and how to add details.

Once again create cube Press 5 for shedding mode and select the cube and change the width 12, height 5 and depth 12

Rename to the base2. Remember when were you create an object in Maya mask name the object. This is what the professional’s do they name every single of the object as we do have only a few object in our seen when we do have some of more parts of the lamp I will show you the outliner so you will knew important to name every object. From marking menu select edges. And select the single edge of one corner.

Now going at this edit mash and open the bevel option.

And change the following details in the option.

Width 0.2 and segments 4 ( segments are the subdivisions)

The corner will change like this.

Now select the both sides of the cube shown as in picture and once again open bevel options.

And reset from edit it will reset the default settings of the bevel

Now change the settings below. Width 0.4 and Segments 6 , the object will change like this.
