  • In this video tutorial we will create streetlight pole using CV Curve Tool.
  • First of all we need a profile curve for our model.

  • Go to side view panel and then go to Create Menu and click on CV Curve Tool option button.
  • In option window press reset button. We will keep curve degree to cubic in this lesson.
  • In status line press the Snap to Grid Button.snap to girid button
  • Let’s start building our profile curve. First of all will make base of our light pole.
  • For keeping line straight at turning points you must click 3 times.

  • We need to add some more CV’s that are used later when we will be making details of our pole.

  • For the height of the pole create more CV’s.
  • Keep little distances between CV’s.
  • Near the Last CV add a CV of one Grid unit.
  • Now again on Status Line switch off the Snap to Grid Button by pressing it.
  • At top of the pole we will create lamp housing. This contains light.
  • Make a half round shape with 5 or 6 CV’s.

  • When you satisfied hit enter button on keyboard or click on select tool in Tool Box.
  • Now our profile curve is ready. We will make pole shape using revolve tool.
  • In Menu Set select Surfaces.
  • Go to surfaces menu and Click on Revolve Option button.

  • In option window press Revolve button.
  • That’s it. We have rough light pole shape now.
  • Select pole and go to Channel Box. In Shapes Area Click on revolve1 option.
  • Increase Sections 8 to 16.

  • Now go to side panel. Select the pole and in Marking Menu Choose Control vertices.
  • Select the row of CV’s near the neck of lamp housing.

  • Go to perspective Panel.
  • And scale inward interactively.
  • Use this technique at two lower CV rings.

  • Now we will make more details in light pole’s body. We will make grooves in body. We will scale some rows of CV’s for making grooves.
  • Go to Top View Panel.
  • Select Control Vertices from Marking Menu.
  • First Select CV’s row at 12 o Clock Position and then at 6 o clock position.

  • As Well select CV’s at 3 o clock and then at 9 o clock.

  • Now, deselect unwanted CV’s near lamp housing area and near the bottom of pole.

  • Go to top view panel again, select Scale tool and make groove by scaling inward in X Axis and Z Axis.

  • We have made beautiful grooves in our light pole’s body.
