Answer: I saw many individual Maya users have problem with opening a latter version file in some earlier version of Maya. Here is the solution of this problem, When you are going to open a new scene file in Maya just Go to the File > Open New Scene Options.
This will open the option box
Simply check the ignore version option and that’s it. "Ignore version"Disregards the file version when opening a Maya file. The Ignore version setting lets you open a file that was created by a later version of Maya regardless of whether it was saved in ascii or binary format. This eliminates the need to save and then manually edit an ascii version of the Maya file to remove the required version line when you need to open it in an earlier version. “ More video tutoirals in Maya Basics
